At the Academies of Waimea High School, all Seniors must complete a senior project in their selected Program of Study. This experience is designed to encourage students to investigate a topic based on experiences, skills, and knowledge acquired during their high school careers. It is also expected that students will focus on a project that enables them to demonstrate their knowledge and skills from their program of study and also helps them develop a deeper understanding of themselves, including their strengths, aspirations, and personal guiding principles.

It is required that all students complete a Senior Project Proposal prior to the end of their Junior year. Students must have their project approved by their CTE teacher and a presentation team no later than the end of their Junior year. All required liability, travel, and site certification documents must be completed prior to students starting their project experience as a senior. The successful completion of a senior project is a requirement of the Personal Transition Plan (PTP), which is required for graduation.
